Meet Glenn…

I was born and raised in NE Portland, raised by public school teachers, and am married to my best friend, Hannah. We have raised four talented and amazing children in Clackamas County, and are now enjoying the blessing of grandchildren. I’ve been a healthcare leader for over 25 years, improving access to quality care and services and am now a small business owner.

MY foundation

My roots go several generations deep in Oregon.  My parents were career Portland Public School teachers, my grandparents worked in Portland's real estate market after WW2, and after emigrating my great-grandparents started as wheat ranchers in Wasco County, Oregon and Saskatchewan. Compounded over those generations, my family roots taught me integrity, education and hard work were keys to future success. My Christian faith challenges me to live a life of compassion for others, loving all well, and helping where I can.

COMMUNITY minded

I've been blessed with a great education that kicked off a 25-year career in health care. And yet, I know that not everyone gets the same start…the same advantages and opportunities that I have had.

So, I’ve committed to doing my part to help others thrive…and that has meant hundreds of volunteer hours poured into community and life changing organizations like Parrott Creek to ensure that those Oregon’s youth find support, opportunities, and a second chance.

And there is SO much more to be done!

PASSION to serve

My core passion is to provide a safe and healthy community for all Clackamas County's residents—starting at home in Happy Valley and in our local public schools. The basic foundations of safety, health, high quality education and economic opportunity are critical to this vision.

I believe that "everybody counts, or nobody counts"...  and this is particularly imperative when I think about ensuring a safe and supportive environment ever member of our community.

When all voices and perspectives are included, we will see a rich community that overcomes challenges together, delivers better results, and truly thrives!

LET’S get real!

Lot’s of folks ask me, “Glenn, how do you say your name??” The good news is I respond to lots of variations of "Wachter"!  Because it's a question I get pretty much every day, I often say "Wachter...sounds like doctor."

No matter how you say my name, I’d love to hear from you and listen to your thoughts on our City, our School District, and how we can make our community healthier, safer and more prosperous for all!
